1. Engagement à l’égard de la confidentialité des renseignements personnels
La Société canadienne de thoracologie (SCT) se soucie de protéger la vie privée et la confidentialité de ses membres et des autres utilisateurs de ses services. La présente Politique sur la protection des renseignements personnels (« la présente politique ») décrit les principes et méthodes de la SCT en ce qui touche la collecte de renseignements personnels, leur utilisation et leur communication. La SCT recueille, utilise et communique de tels renseignements seulement avec le consentement de la personne concernée, à moins que la loi ne permette ou n’exige autrement. La présente politique pourra être mise à jour de temps à autre; ces actualisations seront approuvées par le conseil d’administration de la SCT afin de tenir compte de développements dans ses pratiques ou encore de nouvelles technologies ou de la situation du droit. Les mises à jour seront rendues disponibles par les mêmes moyens que la présente politique. La version en vigueur de la politique régira toute collecte, utilisation et communication de renseignements personnels par la SCT.
2. Renseignements personnels
Les renseignements personnels s’entendent de toute information qui peut servir à distinguer, identifier ou joindre une personne.
La présente politique s’applique à tous les renseignements personnels des membres actuels ou éventuels ainsi que des personnes ayant manifesté de l’intérêt envers la SCT ou ayant participé à un événement parrainé ou organisé par celle-ci. Les renseignements personnels que la SCT recueille habituellement et utilise comprennent le nom de la personne, son adresse, son numéro de téléphone, son adresse de courriel, ses renseignements bancaires ou de carte de crédit (numéro de carte, type, date d’expiration). La SCT demande aussi à ses membres des renseignements pertinents à leur participation à la SCT, comme leur spécialité, leur certification, leur affiliation à une faculté de médecine, leurs principaux champs d’intérêt et leur disposition à assumer des fonctions au sein de la SCT.
3. Responsabilité
La SCT a la responsabilité d’assurer la confidentialité de tous les renseignements personnels en sa possession, y compris les renseignements qu’elle transmet à une tierce partie pour être traités. La directrice générale de la SCT a été nommée agente de protection de la vie privée de la SCT. Elle peut déléguer la responsabilité quotidienne d’assurer le respect de la présente politique à d’autres membres du personnel, mais la protection des renseignements personnels lui incombe toujours.

La SCT est également responsable de l’information qu’elle envoie à des tiers qui sont ses fournisseurs de services. Elle exige d’eux qu’ils utilisent cette information uniquement aux fins pour lesquelles celle-ci leur a été envoyée et qu’ils en assurent la confidentialité conformément aux lois pertinentes et à la présente politique.
4 Renseignements reçus d’autres sources
La SCT utilise parfois des listes d’envoi d’autres organismes avec lesquels elle collabore à organiser ou à parrainer des programmes, publications, séminaires, congrès ou autres initiatives. Lorsqu’elle le fait, l’organisme est tenu de ne fournir que les noms des individus qui ont donné leur consentement à ce que leurs renseignements soient partagés. Si la SCT contacte un individu figurant sur une telle liste, elle lui demandera s’il désire ou non d’autres communications de la SCT. La SCT s’engage à respecter le souhait de l’individu.
5. Buts de la collecte, de l’utilisation et de la communication de renseignements personnels

6. Communication de renseignements personnels
Afin de simplifier la demande d’adhésion et le processus de renouvellement pour les membres d’organismes du domaine de la santé respiratoire, la SCT collecte les cotisations au nom d’autres organismes (p. ex., la Société européenne des maladies respiratoires). La SCT transfère ensuite la cotisation et les renseignements du membre à l’autre organisme. Une fois ces renseignements transmis à l’autre organisme, ils ne sont plus contrôlés par la SCT et deviennent l’objet des pratiques et procédures de confidentialité de l’organisme qui les a reçus.
Par ailleurs, la SCT divulgue occasionnellement des renseignements personnels sur ses membres à d’autres organismes qui fournissent de l’information ou qui parrainent des événements similaires aux intérêts de ses membres. Sur le formulaire d’adhésion et de renouvellement de la SCT, les membres ont l’option de refuser cette divulgation et utilisation de leurs renseignements personnels à ces fins. De plus, un membre peut retirer son consentement à tout moment en contactant la coordonnatrice de l’adhésion et des communications. La SCT prend des mesures soignées pour s’assurer de respecter les souhaits des individus en ce qui a trait à la communication et à l’utilisation de renseignements personnels.
Outre les dispositions décrites aux présentes, et dans les limites permises ou prescrites par la loi, la SCT ne dévoile pas de renseignements personnels à moins d’avoir obtenu le consentement de l’individu qu’ils concernent.
7. Consentement
La SCT n’utilise les renseignements personnels qu’avec le consentement des personnes qu’ils concernent, sauf dans les cas permis ou exigés par la loi. Lorsqu’un individu soumet un formulaire d’adhésion ou de renouvellement, ou qu’il s’inscrit à un événement, il se verra offrir l’occasion de refuser de recevoir d’autres informations de la SCT ou de toute autre tierce partie. De plus, un individu peut retirer son consentement à l’utilisation de ses renseignements personnels, à toutes fins, à tout moment, en communiquant avec la SCT à l’adresse susmentionnée. La SCT expliquera les conséquences du retrait de ce consentement. Prière de prévoir trois (3) mois pour le traitement de tout avis de retrait de consentement.
8. Site Web
La SCT offre de l’information et certains services à ses membres par l’intermédiaire de son site Web (« le site »). En consultant le site, les internautes acceptent que des renseignements sur eux soient recueillis, utilisés et communiqués conformément à la présente politique.
Témoins de navigation. Le site utilise des témoins de navigation (ou « cookies ») – de petits paquets de données qui sont transférés au logiciel de navigation de l’utilisateur. Les témoins de navigation sont utilisés pour adapter le site selon les intérêts d’un individu ou pour conserver certains renseignements personnels, comme un mot de passe, pour la prochaine visite. Un utilisateur peut adapter son logiciel navigateur de manière à ce qu’il n’accepte pas ces témoins, et demeurer capable de consulter le site, bien qu’en conséquence certaines sections du site puissent être non disponibles ou plus difficiles à utiliser.
Renseignements non personnels. Comme plusieurs sites Web, le site collecte certains renseignements non personnels au sujet des utilisateurs du site, comme la date et l’heure de leur consultation du site. Il collecte également certaines données non personnelles qui sont utilisées pour l’administration du système et la mise à jour du site.

Les membres du personnel de la SCT qui ont accès aux renseignements personnels sont tenus d’en respecter la confidentialité conformément à leur contrat de travail avec la SCT. Les employés participent également à une formation sur la confidentialité. La SCT applique des méthodes de protection des renseignements personnels qui incluent de limiter l’accès à l’information et de restreindre l’accès aux bureaux où l’information est conservée, mais également des mesures technologiques comme des mots de passe.
12. Accès
Toute personne peut consulter à tout moment les renseignements personnels que possède la SCT à son sujet, en s’adressant à l’agente de protection de la vie privée au 613-235-6650, poste 120. La SCT s’engage à donner suite à ces requêtes le plus rapidement possible ou, à tout le moins, dans les délais prescrits par la loi. Sous réserve de certaines exceptions et limites prévues par la loi, une personne peut avoir accès à tous les renseignements personnels que la SCT détient à son sujet. La SCT corrigera ou modifiera tout renseignement personnel jugé incomplet ou inexact.

Refunds will be allowed within a period of thirty days, provided the applicant has not benefited from any of the membership benefits having a monetary value, such as attendance at networking events or conferences. A 10% administration fee will be subtracted from the refunded amount. Membership is non-transferable. Requests for refunds must be submitted by the applicant in writing, by mail or email. Refunds will be processed within thirty days. By completing purchases with us you agree to have your Credit card and personal information securely stored as part of a payment profile within a 3rd party payment gateway. This securely stored payment profile will be used, when authorized, for automated recurring payments and will allow for easier and faster checkouts. No credit card information is stored within Member365 and all payment data is accessed by way of a secure API. Under no circumstances do we share credit card or personal details.
5. Products or Services
All purchases through our website are subject to product availability. We may, in our sole discretion, limit or cancel the quantities offered on our website or limit the sales of our products or services to any person, household, geographic region or jurisdiction. Prices for our products are subject to change, without notice. Unless otherwise indicated, prices displayed on our website are quoted in Canadian dollars. Who can access the Canadian Thoracic Society member portal?
Please note that the CTS member portal is to be used by members of CTS only. Certain workspaces within the member portal will be tailored for and restricted to certain membership types; access to these areas will be determined and approved by CTS staff. The Content that is displayed in your member portal will automatically vary based on your user / membership type.
What can be posted?
To ensure all interactions within the CTS member portal are safe and friendly, CTS staff will oversee the member portal activity and will review, edit, and delete any inappropriate content that has been submitted.
